Roger Sutton
Chief Executive, Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority
Roger Sutton is the Chief Executive of the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority (CERA) and took up this position in June 2011.
Before being appointed to his position at CERA, Mr Sutton was the Chief Executive Officer of Orion New Zealand Limited, the electricity utility company servicing Canterbury.
Mr Sutton is a former chairman of the Energy Efficiency Conservation Authority (EECA). He is a former Director of Energy Developments, an ASX-listed renewable energy developer, and Director of a number of small technology and energy related businesses. He is also a keen cyclist and runner.
He has a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) from the University of Canterbury (1986). He was married in the Christchurch Cathedral and has three boys aged 11, 8 and 6.
The Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority was set up at the end of April 2011 by the Government to lead recovery and drive a collaborative approach, through to the Authority's conclusion in April 2016.
