Rebecca Macfie
Senior Feature Writer, New Zealand Listener
I have been a journalist for 24 years, including the last five years as a senior feature writer for the New Zealand Listener.
Prior to working for the Listener I worked for the New Zealand Herald’s specialist weekly publication, The Business; was editor and deputy editor of monthly business magazine Unlimited; and freelanced for several years for publications including The Independent Business Weekly, Safeguard (health and safety magazine); North & South; and the Employment Law Bulletin. Earlier in my
career I worked for the National Business Review, Christchurch Star and The
Press.
I have won a number of professional commendations over the years, including Magazine Publishers Association Journalist of the Year in 2011 and 2012 (mass market category); Qantas media awards for feature writing in 2001, 2008 and 2009; and the Canterbury Resource Management Award for environmental reporting in 2008.
I live in Christchurch with my husband Neil Smart. We have two adult children.
