Behind the Scenes of a Communication Audit
Last year, Felicity Price found herself across the front page of The Press several times and the subject of scathing and occasionally defamatory attacks online, all for agreeing to carry out a standard, though somewhat extensive, communication audit of the Christchurch City Council. It came at a time when the Council had been taking
up a good deal of front-page space itself over several issues, ranging from the CEO’s payrise to the frequently alleged dysfunctionality around the Council table. The Government appointed an official observer and the Council commissioned the comms audit. How did she do it; how the audit go under such an intensive spotlight? And what could it be expected to achieve in such a seemingly hostile environment that included protest marches on the Council offices, screeds of letters to the editor and editorial sarcasm from the city’s many columnists and commentators? Felicity will outline the audit process and outcomes in a brief presentation.
